Truffles and Viaducts

28th of November

Let’s go to the lands of Teruel to look for some black truffles! We will explore the pretty village of Albentosa and the various viaducts surrounding it and then go looking for black truffles with the help of experts and truffle hunter hounds.

We’ll meet in Valencia in the parking lot on av. Aragón in front of Mestalla stadium and drive to Albentosa. Once there, we’ll have a cup of coffee on a terrace of a bar before starting the hike.

The route starts in the town hall square and first takes us to the lookout points, just outside the village. From there we will cross the viaduct of Albentosa for the first time and make our way down to the river. Here we will have a scenic fluvial part of the hike and pass below the viaduct. Soon, we will meet with the truffle picking experts and start our search for black truffles. Once we’re done with that, we’ll stop for lunch there. After that a short walk along the tunnel and the viaduct will take us back to Albentosa. Finally, we’ll have a drink on a terrace after the hike and then return to Valencia.

The Black Truffles

Truffles have been part of the stews of the Teruel lands since someone discovered their intense and aromatic flavor! Natural truffle is a true gastronomic jewel and in the lands that surround Albentosa it is possible to find them … Perhaps you would like, in addition to tasting them on a plate, enjoy the pleasure of going to look for them, and above all, the excitement of finding them. If you feel like it, now is the season! We organize outings with our faithful friends, the truffle hunter hounds, and you are invited!

The Viaduct of Albentosa

The highlight of the Vía Verde as it passes through the municipality of Albentosa is its viaduct. From the Albentosa viaduct there are panoramic views of the banks of the Albentosa River, the RENFE railway viaduct, the castle-cemetery and the town center.

The viaduct has 7 semicircular arches and is preserved in perfect condition. A new section has been added to the original metal railing for greater safety and the platform has been prepared with compacted solid ground. The profile of the Vía Verde Ojos Negros ascends from here from 960 meters of altitude to 1,240 of Puerto Escandón. Very close to the village of Albentosa, the Greenway enters the Albentosa Tunnel. The tunnel is the longest of the entire route – 394 meters in length, 93.6 meters of which run in a curve and the rest in a straight line.

  1. OK. Do I sign up and pay using the same method as the people going on the bus?
What time and where is the meeting point?
