Discovering the Enchanting Trails of Chulilla: A Journey Through Scenic Beauty to the Hanging Bridges

Chulilla, a beloved travel destination in Valencia, has captured the hearts of adventurers, thanks to its iconic hanging bridges that traverse the Turia River. This picturesque hike unveils one of the most stunning trails in the entire Valencian Community, promising an unforgettable experience for nature enthusiasts.

Embarking from Plaza de la Baronia. Begin your adventure in the heart of the village at Plaza de la Baronia. Optimal for a clockwise journey, this route ensures you savour the landscapes before the thrill of traversing the hanging bridges. Descend towards Charco Azul, following well-marked signposts, and stick to the right side to tread the narrow path along the irrigation channel.

Charco Azul: A Photographer’s Paradise. Charco Azul emerges as a captivating oasis and a haven for photographers. The addition of a floating boardwalk enhances your exploration, leading you deeper into the pond. Witness the remnants of a historic gangway, a testament to the ingenuity of those who constructed the Loriguilla dam in 1965, simplifying their daily commute.

Following PR-CV 77 Trail.

Transition onto the wide gravel path, guiding you through the canyon and around Chulilla. As you spot signposts for the PR-CV 77 trail, the trail transforms into a single-track uphill path. After approximately 40 minutes, you’ll reach the ancient cave paintings of Barranco de Falfiguera, accessible by descending a steep trail or navigating the bottom of the ravine.

Ascending for Panoramic Rewards. Continue along the ravine until you spot the white and yellow blazes of the trail. Ascend through a bit of easy scrambling, and you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the Loriguilla reservoir. The descent takes you close to the azure waters, providing a visual feast for tired eyes.

The Grand Finale: Hanging Bridges Await.

As you follow the paved road, passing a parking lot, another PR-CV 77 signpost signals the imminent arrival of the hanging bridges. Re-enter the canyon, surrounded by its striking red and yellow walls, occasionally spotting winter rock climbers along the way. Arrive at the renowned hanging bridges, offering an opportunity to capture breathtaking photos. What’s more, you will also feel the refreshing waters of the Turia River.

Homeward Bound with Spectacular Views. The concluding stretch ascends with ever-improving views of the river below. Reach the top, where the Charco Azul boardwalk is visible from a canyon summit. A lookout point awaits, urging you to cherish the scenery responsibly. The journey concludes with a leisurely walk back to Chulilla, passing a parking space and various bars. Indulge in a well-deserved refreshment, toasting to a day filled with the wonders of Chulilla’s natural beauty.”
