Let’s go to Bocairent – a beautiful village carved out in a rock. During this trip we will hike the Barranc dels Tarongers route and visit the artificial caves – Covetes dels Moros.
There are severeal routes that are well worth visiting in the province of Valencia. One of them is the one that passes through the Barranc dels Tarongers (PR-CV 122) and the Senda dels Enginyers, a beautiful itinerary that runs through the municipal terms of Ontinyent and Bocairent. With little more than 13 kilometers it is a spectacular hike without much technical difficulty. The route runs along a path of the Tarongers ravine, a path that is full of old historic mills, many of them already in ruins except one of them, as well as beautiful points such as stairs carved in stone or places full of water in the section of the ravine.
Bocairent
The visit to the old town of Bocairent, declared historic-artistic site is essential, especially after having contemplated the impressive panoramic view from the road. It has a peculiar layout of streets, in the purest Arab style, with climbs and descents, stairs, squares, alleys… A walk along the steep streets, for which the proper shoes are recommended, will show us the corners of great beauty. Fountains and pots with flowers mark the entire walk, which can take us to one of the three shrines of the old town: Sant Joan, Mare de Déu dels Desemparats and Mare de Déu d’Agost.
