Sunrise at Garbí

18th of June

This time we are going to el Garbí to see the sunrise from one of the best viewpoints in Valencia. After experiencing the sunrise we will hike down from el Garbí to Náquera.

Mirador del Garbí

If you think of el Garbí, the typical photo in its lookout point – one of the most instagrammable corners of València, immediately comes to mind. But, pay attention! Apart from the photo spot, you can also take the opportunity to take a route, enjoy the nature that surrounds this incredible balcony and discover new places less than an hour from the city.
Mirador del Garbí is located 600 meters above sea level, between the towns of Serra, Náquera and Segart, from which it can be accessed on foot or by car. From the top you will be able to contemplate beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea, Sierra de Irta, Oropesa, Puerto de Sagunto and on clear days you can even see the Columbretes Islands. Also, if you take advantage and go when it is getting dark, the sunset is incredible.
But if you also want to walk a bit and practice sports in Valencia doing a route in the Garbí, there are several itineraries, so that you can choose the one that best suits you. Escape from the routine and discover all the corners, fauna and flora that the Serra Calderona hides, you will return renewed with these excursions.

Barraix Hermitage

Ermita del Sagrado Corazón (Barraix) is accessed by the CV-3342 road that goes up to Garbí, diverting us towards the famous Fuente de Barraix. Once we have reached this spring, a short but steep path, with some newly made steps, takes us to the esplanade where the shrine is located, under the tops of leafy pine trees. From its location, quiet and evocative, you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view, in the heart of the Sierra Calderona.
On its door you will find the date – August 3, 1922; the year of its construction. It has always been closely linked to the neighboring Fonda de Barraix and its former owners, having become a symbol of the place where it is very loved by the residents of Estivella and hikers.
Despite preserving the cult, until very recently it was in a poor state of semi-neglect and its walls and decorations have been continually vandalized. Fortunately, the pressure of institutions, associations and individuals have managed (after many delays) that the Provincial Council, owner of the building, carried out between 2016 and 2017 the rehabilitation works of this beautiful chapel, its access and surroundings, so it could be observed again in perfect condition.
