Rubielos de Mora

3rd of October

A journey into the lands of Teruel and a beautiful town of Rubielos de Mora. During this trip we will visit the town and then hike to Olba in the scenic surroundings of Gúdar-Javalambre region.

Rubielos de Mora

Rubielos de Mora is located within the Gúdar-Javalambre Region, specifically it is nestled in a valley on the southern slope of the Gúdar mountain range. The Region is made up of towns with spectacular architectural ensembles, some of them called Historic-Artistic Complex, Asset of Cultural Interest or Most Beautiful Town in Spain, even as the Highest Municipality in Spain (Valdelinares, 1962 meters above sea level). In addition, all these municipalities are surrounded by a great variety of landscapes such as river gorges, quarries, reservoirs and waterfalls, among other natural places.

Historia – Rubielos de Mora

PRTV-126 “Rubielos de Mora-Olba”

Very interesting trail both for the places it crosses and for the possibilities of linking with other trails that it raises. The Carrasca Iserte and the Pino Guijón are two monumental trees that we will find. Also noteworthy are the Palomarejos river ravine and La Hoz ravine and finally the stretch of the Mijares river already in the municipality of Olba.

It seems that all the towns in this region are at level with the sky, but nevertheless Olba, at only 660 meters of altitude, sits in the valley of the river Mijares and has more benign climate than other villages. The river here is a link between the different neighborhoods, steep limestone walls dominate the bottom of the valley, with farmhouses and numerous small population centers that are located in the waves of the meanders and on the slopes of the valley.
