Let’s go to Chera to do a loop around the Buseo reservoir. During this hike we will also pass by barranco de la Hoz, where we will be able to bathe in cristal clear waters of a mountain stream. We will also visit a waterfall – el Chorrero de la Castellana before coming back to the village.

The Buseo reservoir is a beautiful site reminiscent of Swiss landscapes, and which was formed when a 40-meter-high dam was erected in the Reatillo riverbed, at the entrance to the narrow Tormagal gorge. The dam, built using ashlar masonry between 1903 and 1915, can store 7.5 cubic hectometres of water, an amount that allowed the entire Valencian garden to be watered at least two and a half times a year.
It is the oldest reservoir in the Turia basin and from its commissioning it was the largest in the Valencian Community, until the construction of the María Cristina reservoir in Castellón, completed in 1925. But it retained the first place in the province of Valencia until 1952, the date on which the Benagéber reservoir was built, later its hydraulic utility being merely tourist…. Encherate
Barranco de la Hoz
Next to the Buseo reservoir and very close to the camping area, you can find a wonder of nature. When there is rain and enough flow, you can enjoy a unique spectacle: Barranco de la Hoz de Chera. The waterfall, pools and unique rocks that form the gorge of La Hoz, which provides flow to the Reatillo River, the main tributary of the Turia on its right bank and subjected to the Mediterranean rainfall regime with rapid and violent floods caused by torrential rains, which they alternate with strong drafts that leave their bed dry, they are spectacular to witness at different times of the year….. Chera is a mountainous municipality in the province of Valencia, which has 502 inhabitants and is 85 km from its capital. Immersed in an enveloping tranquility and stillness, the town is located inside a huge rift valley formed sixty-five million years ago and surrounded by steep peaks up to 1,176 m high. Its economy is based mainly on rural tourism and mountain agriculture, where the cultivation of almond and olive trees stands out.
