The Cavanilles Trail

15th of October

This time we are doing one of the favourite routes of the famous Valencian botanist Antonio José de Cavanilles – La Muela de Cortes. This is one of the best trails to observe the Júcar river from above.

We’ll meet in Valencia in the parking lot on av. Aragón in front of Mestalla stadium and drive to Cortes de Pallás. Once there, we’ll have a cup of coffee on a terrace of a bar before starting the hike.

The route begins with a gentle stroll and soon will pass by el Corbinet waterfall. From here on we will follow a mountain stream, as we gradually are making our way up. Next we’ll reach the main part of the ascent, which will also give great views on Ventana del Águila. A bit more walking on the top and we’ll get to the main lookout point of the hike, overlooking the town and the Júcar river. We will also stop for lunch here, to get the most out of these spectacular views. After lunch we will make our way down on a scenic, zigzagging trail. We will have a drink on a terrace after the hike and then return to Valencia.
