Let’s explore some of the best trails along the Júcar river. We are going to hike along the canyons made by it and admire several castles and beautiful villages on the banks of the river.

Alcalá del Júcar
Alcalá del Júcar is one of the most picturesque towns in Albacete, a must-visit for lovers of rural tourism, adventure or whoever wants to be impressed by the rich heritage of a unique municipality, declared a Historic-Artistic Site.
As its name indicates, it is located on the banks of the Júcar River, in its final section in the Castilla-La Mancha community, before entering Valencian lands, where it flows into the Mediterranean Sea. On its pass through the town, the river traces a gorge that draws a sinuous path that constitutes one of the main attractions of Alcalá de Júcar, and that determines the layout of the houses, which climb the slopes taking advantage of the meander.
Narrow streets that climb towards the Castle, small houses, steep stairs, small gardens and of course, the typical caves, make Alcalá del Júcar a unique architectural and natural complex.
Hoz de Alarcón
The Hoz de Alarcón trail offers us a trip to the past, to the time of borderlands, armour and swords. We will be walking amongst walls and towers, which will transport our imagination to the Middle Ages, while enjoying a scenery deserving a movie setting. Not surprisingly, as the fortified town of Alarcón 9the starting and ending point of the trail) is at the top of a small peninsula formed by a deep gorge of the Júcar river.
Although there are vestiges of Iberian and Roman settlements, the name of the town has its origins in the time of the Arab domination. From this same period is its magnificent castle (today converted into a parador) and the walls. The circular trail takes us out of the town through its wall and takes us along the outer defense walls, always with magnificent views of the town and the meanders of Júcar, to later get fully into the excavated narrow paths in the limestone rock, on a route of great historical, geological and landscape interest.
Cañones del Júcar
The canyons of the River Júcar will surprise any traveller who ventures into the interior of the province of Valencia. You’d never imagine that, just over an hour from Platja de la Malva-rosa beach, you’d come across a landscape that will make you dizzy. Literally. Between the villages of Jalance and Cofrentes the River Júcar is channelled between majestic walls of rock, more than 300 metres high. It’s a magic, impressive spot, not at all what you’d expect to find in this area of Valencia. You’ll find ravines, Mediterranean forest, tunnels dug into the rock. Along with that, you’ll find plenty of thrills in this relatively small area, where nature always reigns supreme over man.
Sendero el Morrón
A beautiful hiking route of the Albacete Firefighters Association through the impressive landscape of Alcalá del Júcar and its river. The idea is to make a very easy circular route of about 15 km, as we will start by going down next to the river to cross it through Tolosa and go up to the upper area, returning through El Morrón with impressive views, and end up going down to Alcalá again.

The price of the trip is 195 Euros per person (370 for a couple). 50 euros paid in advance to reserve the spot; balance due by 7th of November (free cancellation till 5th of November). The price includes transportation, two nights of accommodation with breakfast, insurance and a professional guide.

The price is for a person sharing a twin room. You can reserve a single room for additional 35 euros.
