Moles de Xert

On this occasion, we travel to the region of Baix Maestrat (Lower Maestrazgo) in the province of Castellón, specifically to the town of Xert. There, the landscape catches our attention with its characteristic Molas (Muelas). This is the result of the continuous but varied erosion of harder materials such as limestone and softer ones such as marls and/or clays.
From the town of Xert, we will take a journey to explore the surroundings of these characteristic and striking formations, ascending two of them, the Mola Llarga and the Mola or Moleta Redona as it is also called. This is a high-level scenic route that includes some sections with a certain level of technical difficulty when walking; however, it is by no means complicated for those accustomed to the mountains.
Vallibona – Peiró Trencat

The meaning of Vallibona can be interpreted in two ways. It is commonly believed to mean “good valley” due to its beautiful location, but it can also be understood to mean “valley of the tarns”. Tarns are small mountain lakes originating from glaciers; Vallibona sits close to various pools and ponds, as well as the banks of the river Cérvol.
The wilderness enveloping Vallibona is of outstanding beauty. Situated on the outskirts of Tinença de Benifassà natural park, the village is the starting point to a number of hiking routes that will lead you deep into the scenery. And that’s not all. Microrreserva Cresta de Turmell is located between Vallibona and Xert, a landscape full of craggy rocks, limestone formations, black pine forests and oak woodland.
