The hike to Masía Mosquera from Almedíjar is a beautiful route through the heart of the Sierra de Espadán, combining lush forest trails, red sandstone paths, and a glimpse into the region’s rural history. Starting from the picturesque village of Almedíjar, the trail climbs gently through cork oak forests and Mediterranean scrub, gradually revealing sweeping views of the surrounding mountains. The route follows well-marked tracks and paths, making its way past old terraced fields and shaded ravines typical of the Espadán landscape. Along the way, the scents of pine and aromatic herbs fill the air, adding to the immersive experience of hiking through one of Castellón’s most scenic natural parks.

After about 7 kilometers of varied terrain, the trail reaches Masía Mosquera, a historic 18th-century farmhouse nestled in a quiet valley. Once used for forestry and agricultural purposes, the masía has been partially restored and now serves as an interpretation center for the natural park. It’s an ideal spot to rest, enjoy a picnic, and take in the peaceful surroundings before retracing your steps or completing the circular route back to Almedíjar. The full loop is around 14 kilometers with moderate elevation gain, making it a satisfying half-day hike suitable for most hikers in good condition. This route is especially pleasant in spring and autumn, when the colors of the forest are at their most vibrant.
