This time we are going for a very special hike – we are going to conquer six different summits in the Eastern part of Sierra Calderona, each giving a unique perspective on this natural park.
The 6 Peaks of Calderona hike from Santu Esperitu in Gilet is a challenging yet rewarding adventure that takes you through the rugged terrain of the Sierra Calderona Natural Park. This trail covers approximately 15 kilometers and ascends six prominent peaks, offering hikers panoramic views of both the Mediterranean coastline and the inland valleys. Starting from the tranquil surroundings of the Santu Esperitu Monastery, the route gradually climbs through pine forests, rocky paths, and ridgelines, with each summit providing a different perspective of the Calderona range. The first few peaks, including Mola de Segart and Pico del Águila, showcase stunning rock formations and are a great warm-up for the tougher ascents ahead.
As you conquer each peak, the sense of isolation and natural beauty grows stronger. The hike features technical sections, especially as you approach the later summits like Xocainet and La Redona, where steep inclines and uneven paths require careful navigation. The trail’s diversity, from forested valleys to exposed ridgelines, makes it an unforgettable experience for seasoned hikers seeking both physical challenge and spectacular views. Along the way, you can spot local wildlife, such as birds of prey and wild boar, adding to the sense of immersion in nature. The hike ends where it began, at the peaceful Santu Esperitu Monastery, allowing for a moment of rest and reflection on this demanding but exhilarating journey.
