Ascent to Montcudio

7th of January

The summit of el Moncudio stands as the highest point in the municipality of Náquera. From this vantage point, one can observe the distinctive peaks of Mola de Segart and Oronet, as well as the prominent Serra Castle located nearby.

We will embark on our hike from Náquera and begin by making our way to Ermita de San Francisco. After enjoying a nice view of the town from above, we will make our way towards Moncudio. The trail will lead us right below the cross of Náquera, skirting the hill on which it proudly stands. Before long, we will reach Pi del Salt, the most renowned natural spot in Náquera. Once a quarry, the area still showcases its imposing, sheer rocky walls. The site is named after a magnificent old pine tree that commands the area with its majestic presence.

From here, our ascent begins. The trail is steep, but the views will only get better as we progress. Eventually, we’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking panorama of the sea and the city of Valencia. Once we reach the peak, we’ll stop for a well-deserved lunch. This vantage point offers an ideal setting to relax and soak in the beauty after the challenging climb. Following our meal, we’ll descend via a different trail, leading us through wooded areas for a delightful change of scenery. To cap off the day, we’ll enjoy a refreshing drink at a local bar before returning to Valencia.
