The Mining Park of Maestrat
Parc Miner del Maestrat is located in the natural area of La Fontanella, situated at an altitude of about 800 meters, where you can contemplate magnificent panoramic views of the l’Alt Maestrat region. It is a privileged space where you can learn about the ancient underground mining industry in the area, explore its galleries, and understand how those men who left this extraordinary legacy lived and worked. The Parc Miner del Maestrat constitutes a historical heritage with great tourist and cultural appeal, an experience for the senses and an exciting adventure.
Cova del Bovalar
The route of Cova del Bovalar takes us to this natural spot from the town of Culla, where we will find groups of large holm oaks. Passing through the El Regall ravine, we reach this impressive shelter.
Leaving the cave behind, we will venture into the Molinell river ravine. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most emblematic places in the municipality, not only because of the natural charm that surrounds it, but also because there are numerous water points and flour mills. Ascending the Tossal de la Cova, we can cool off at the Font de la Llosa, and later at Mas de la Canaleta.

Barranc dels Horts
Barranc dels Horts is located in the municipality of Ares. It is oriented in a NE-SW direction, has a length of about 5 km, and its altitude ranges from 680 m to 1,160 m above sea level. The type of vegetation found in it is mainly composed of deciduous species such as Valencian oaks, maples, service trees, etc. Although we can also find perennial species such as holm oaks, holly, yew, or juniper.
In the undergrowth, we encounter different species depending on the altitude. In the lower parts of Barranc dels Horts, red alders and rosemary abound, while in the higher areas, we find kermes oak, alders, and holly. Additionally, we can find many other species such as lavender, thyme, sage, savory, white pennyroyal, ivy, lime trees, and others. The most remarkable characteristic of Barranc dels Horts lies not so much in the variety of species, but in the quality and balance that the existing ecosystem has achieved. The specimens of centuries-old holm oaks and maples are noteworthy.
