12th of April
There are many great trails leading up to Pico Espadán. This time we are going to hike along the Barranco de Aguas Negras, navigating our way along and across the mountain stream and getting spectacular views from the peak.
We’ll meet in Valencia in the parking lot on av. Aragón in front of Mestalla stadium and drive to Vall de Almonacid. Once there, we’ll have a coffee on a terrace and drive a little more to Fuente de la Calzada, where the route starts. First we will walk along the stream called Aguas Negras, crossing it several times. Depending on the amount of water, some rock hopping might be involved. After that we’ll come out to a wider trail and follow that till we get to the peak. Pico Espadán offers some of the best views of the natural park and will be a great spot to stop for lunch. We will make our way back along a different trail, passing by Cueva del Estuco on the way. After coming back to the starting point, we will drive back to the town to have a drink on a terrace and then we’ll return to Valencia.
