Castillo de Chirel, a striking 15th-century fortress in the rugged landscape of Cortes de Pallás, Valencia, stands as a testament to the region’s medieval history. Perched on a steep rocky outcrop overlooking the Júcar River, the castle was strategically built to defend against invasions and control the surrounding territory. Its thick stone walls, towers, and commanding position highlight its role as a military stronghold, while its Gothic-Mudejar architectural elements reflect the cultural influences of the time. Though now in ruins, the site remains a popular hiking destination, offering visitors both a journey into history and spectacular views of the dramatic canyon below.
