The Maigmó Massif

The Arguenya sierra, aka Carrascar de Castalla, and the Maigmó massif separate the areas known as Foia de Castalla to the east, and the Vinalopó valley to the west. The Arguenya mountains, covered in pine forests and shrubbery, rise up to the Replana de la Font del Llop at 1,228m. Of note on the way up is hexagonal-shaped “snow well”, or pou de neu del Carrascar, whose ashlar roof is covered in huge slabs of worked stone. The Maigmó massif (1,296m) preserves well-stocked pine forests and kermes oaks. The peak, called the Balcony over Alicante, commands excellent vistas of the surrounding area. At the foot of the mountain is the Tibi dam (1595), constructed to detain the waters of the Verd river and irrigate the market gardens of Alicante. Various signposted trails can be used for excursions.

Cabeçó d’Or

Legend has it that in times of Muslim rule, an important Arab buried a fabulous treasure in these lands. After an unexpected death, this treasure was left at the mercy of seekers and it is said that it has not yet been found. From there it takes the name of d’Or. Many other stories speak of its iron mines or its mineral water sources, which have provided the raw material and wealth necessary for the development of the area, thus being comparable to the discovery of a gold treasure.
Located between the terms of Xixona, Relleu, Aigues and Busot, its geodesic has a height of 1,209 meters above sea level, next to a secondary peak, the Peña del Home, where a surveillance booth is located and a height of 1,138 meters above sea level.
The route that we propose is one of the classics of the Alicante mountains. We make its ascension by the PR-CV 2. We will leave from the Cuevas del Canelobre, towards Casa del Polset, from there we will climb to the top, and we will return by Casa de Gorgue. A popular route with a pleasant walk. I hope you enjoy it.

Alicante

Alicante is a surprising city full of life, contrasts and beauty. Dubbed the “City of Light,” Alicante is one of those idyllic destinations where you can get lost on magical beaches and enjoy exciting experiences with your family. With more than 3,000 years of history, Alicante is home to historic sites like the Castle of Santa Bárbara. Take a tour of its interior and, once you step outside, see stunning panoramic views of the city.

The best way to see Alicante is to walk around and take in its historic influences. The Ayuntamiento de Alicante building surprises visitors with its historic facade, Solomonic columns and two towers. See the city’s Christian influence when you visit La Basílica de Santa María, Concatedral de San Nicolás or Monasterio de Santa Faz. At El Mercado Central, guests will find fresh seafood and local produce from the gardens of Alicante.
