If you are thinking about a city on the Mediterranean coast – you would be surprised! Piedras de Cullera are rock formations in the heart of Sierra Espadán, near Almedíjar and right next to Espadán Peak. And this is the hike that will get us up there.
We will meet in Valencia in the parking lot on av. Aragón in front of Mestalla stadium and drive to Almedíjar. Once there, we will have a coffee on a terrace there and start the hike.
First we will walk all the way through the Almanzor ravine, till we reach the gravel road. We will continue the uphill from there to reach a fork. Here the path to the right goes straight to Espadán Peak, but we will take the one left. This one will continue ascending and eventually get us to Piedras de Cullera. Once there we will have lunch. After lunch, and with the help of another trail, we will gradually make our way back to Almanzor ravine. A short flat section and we’re back to Almedíjar. Here we will have a drink on a terrace and return to Valencia.
