Azud of Tuejar

20th of November

Characterized by a deep valley carved by the river, Nacimiento del Río Tuéjar is located in the foothills of the Javalambre massif and therefore, in one of the most rugged territories of the province of Valencia. The orography and the scarcity of alterations to the environment, together with the attraction of being crossed by a river of crystalline waters, make this protected space one of the most beautiful and best preserved in the Los Serranos region.

El Azud recreational area in Tuéjar is considered to be one of the most beautiful and special natural pools in the entire province of Valencia. An idyllic place to spend the day with friends or family and enjoy the water and the environment.
Azud, formerly known for the dam that collected water for the town’s main ditch, is characterized by its lush vegetation. It is here that we can see the beautiful views provided by the birth of the Tuéjar River, with pure and crystalline waters.
To complete the excursion we can visit the flora micro-reserve, known by the name “Riberas del Río Tuéjar”. It is a protected space and of great scenic and natural value. Here we can find a great variety of tree species such as poplars, willows, reeds, oleander, white poplars and even some sequoia. In addition we can enjoy the fauna that houses this magnificent ecosystem among which are birds such as the golden eagle or the eagle owl.

Mirador del Mediodía

This area with great ecological value has many very interesting areas, such as the Peña del Mediodía viewpoint for example.
This viewpoint, which is also known as the Azud viewpoint, is located near the source of the Tuéjar River, at 787 m. of altitude. From there you can see a beautiful panoramic view of the entire natural landscape, from Puente Tudela to the impressive Cortados de la Lácaba.
It is certainly worth it to make the effort to get up here and stay for a while to enjoy from the heights and away from the noise of civilization, the beauty of this rich natural environment.
