This time we are going to combine an easy walk with tai chi! We are going to follow the route from Tuéjar to el Azud and then stop there for nature contemplation combined with tai chi practice.
The hike to El Azud de Tuéjar is a scenic and refreshing experience in the Valencian countryside, located near the town of Tuéjar. The trail follows a well-marked path through lush vegetation, leading to El Azud, a beautiful natural pool formed by the crystal-clear waters of the Tuéjar River. Along the way, hikers can enjoy the tranquility of the riverbanks, surrounded by pine forests, olive groves, and fragrant Mediterranean flora. This route is relatively easy, making it accessible to families and casual hikers alike, with plenty of shaded spots to rest and enjoy a picnic.
The highlight of the hike is reaching El Azud, a serene and inviting spot for a swim during the warmer months. The calm waters, fed by natural springs, are perfect for cooling off after the walk. Nearby, there’s also a historic irrigation dam, an important part of the local agricultural heritage. For those seeking to extend their adventure, there are further trails leading into the mountains, offering more challenging terrain and rewarding views of the surrounding landscape. This hike is an ideal blend of nature, relaxation, and a touch of local history.
In the middle of the El Azud de Tuéjar hike, there’s a perfect open space near the river where the calm ambiance invites moments of reflection and mindfulness. Practicing tai chi here is a particularly peaceful experience, with the soothing sound of flowing water and the gentle rustling of leaves providing a natural soundtrack. The autumn season enhances the serenity, as the landscape is awash with rich golden and amber hues from the surrounding trees. The sunlight filtering through the vibrant leaves adds warmth to the scene, creating a tranquil atmosphere for slow, meditative movements. The harmony between the body, mind, and nature in this setting makes it an unforgettable experience.
