Forat de Africa

16th of April

This time we are doing the hike in Sierra de Serrella, hiking all the way to a very curious rock formation – Forat de Africa. The name of this natural gap comes from the resemblance to the African continent.

There are many routes and variants to follow in Serra de la Serrella, which we could baptize -because that is how it is also known- as the Alicante Pyrenees – a unique environment that is considered one of the most magical corners of the Valencian Community.

The so-called Recingle Finestra or Penya d’África stands out, more popularly known as Forat d’Àfrica because it resembles the map of the continent of Africa. It is a huge hole or arch made of natural stone, located on a rock with impressive views, which is found going up to the so-called “Penyes Bardals” from the vicinity of Collado de Borrell. You can also find the Nevera del Pla de la Casa -be very careful not to fall into it-, or the nearby Cim del Pla de la Casa, a spectacular corner where you can sign next to the cross -be careful not to fall into the void from the top of the top-.
