The hike through the Fraile River in Bicorp is a hidden gem in the Caroig Massif, offering a moderately challenging 10 km route through a narrow gorge of crystal-clear waters. Starting at Los Botijos camping area, the trail features natural pools like Charco de la Tosca and Charco de los Guetanos, inviting brave hikers to take a dip. With rocky cliffs, small waterfalls, and an overall sense of wild seclusion, the landscape feels untouched and adventurous. The hike takes about 3 to 4 hours to complete, with a total elevation gain of 200 meters, making it a rewarding experience for those equipped with good footwear and a love for nature.

Important:

The first part of the hike follows the actual course of the Fraile River, which means you’ll be walking, wading, and even swimming through sections of water, including deep natural pools that often require short jumps to continue. Because of this aquatic terrain, you won’t be able to carry much—only bring water and a phone if it’s in a waterproof case, as backpacks or non-waterproof gear won’t make it through. Footwear is especially important: use shoes you’re comfortable getting completely wet and walking in over slippery rocks. A wetsuit is also highly recommended, as the water can be quite cold even on warm days.
