Sierra de Javalambre

29th of April

This time we are going to hike around some of the highest points of Teruel province, as this route will take us to Sierra de Javalambre .

If a territory like this can boast of anything, it is nature, scenic beauty and natural wealth. The Gúdar Javalambre Region is a mountainous territory and it is home to the highest levels of the province of Teruel, with the peaks of Javalambre and Peñarroya, which exceed 2,000 meters in height.

The territory also has seven Sites of Community Importance such as the Sierras de Javalambre and Gúdar, the Rambla de las Truchas, Sabinares del Puerto de Escandón, the Estrecho del Río Mijares and the Cueva de la Humera. It is also possible to find all kinds of pine forests (sapwood, black, Moorish…), as well as forests, tall scrub and even willows, poplars and poplars in the vicinity of the Mijares river.

And, in terms of fauna, it is possible to find all kinds of birds of prey, fish such as common trout, the dipper or the common crab. Variety, once again, is a strong point in the region.
