Morskie Oko

In the heart of the Tatras Mountains on the border of Poland and Slovakia, we discover the beautiful trail to Morskie Oko Lake. Very close to the village of Zakopane, this simple route is filled with vibrant and diverse nature. Keep reading to find out how to get there and uncover all its surprises.
Czerwone Wierchy

Czerwone Wierchy (literally: Red Peaks) is the name of four summits of West Tatra: Kopa Kondracka, Małołączniak, Krzesanica and Ciemniak. Krzesanica, the highest, goes up to 2122 MASL. On the side of the ridge from Kopa Kondracka lays Giewont. Being close to Zakopane, it’s often chosen as tour destination.
Through Czerwone Wierchy goes quite easy route, but because of elevation and trail’s lenght, it would be recommended for tourists with good physical condition. Additionally, during bad weather, this trail can cause some spacial orientation difficulties. You can choose between two paths through Czerwone Wierchy: from Kościeliska Valley to Kondratowa Clearing shelter or vice versa.
Hiking Czerwone Wierchy is an ultimate ridge walk experience in Tatra, one everyone should definitely try while in Polish mountains.
Giewont

Giewont is one of the most prominent mountain peaks overlooking the town of Zakopane. It’s famed for its uniquely shaped summit, which is topped by a large metal cross thats visible from all over the surrounding valley. These days Giewont is a popular hiking spot and a veritable landmark of the Podhale region, not to mention one of the main things to see when you visit the peaks south of Krakow.
Giewont is steeped in myth and legend. There are oodles of Polish folklore tales that talk about various monsters and spirits that live on its slopes and in the surrounding Tatras as a whole. However, the most famous story about this peak is that of the sleeping soldier…
The story goes that the whole mountain of Giewont is actually a sleeping knight that will awaken when Poland is in its hour of need. It’s easy to see what inspired the tale. Simply look at the massif from the north (the best view is from the top of the Gubalowka funicular). You’ll be able to see the outline of a laying human, with the central summit of Giewont forming the face.

Kasprowy Wierch

Kasprowy Wierch is a peak of a long crest in the Western Tatras one of Poland’s main winter ski areas. Its dominant southern crests mark the border with Slovakia. It is accessible in most conditions by foot and daily by cablecar. The mountain is at the crossroads of four crests, two of which coincide with footpaths, incorporating steps, bounding Poland and Slovakia and in times without snow the steep paths heading into both countries south and north are quite easily traversable. The peak itself is just north of the border, which is deemed to be a straight line relative to the two dominant ridges.
