Gorgos de la Larri

The Gorgos de la Larri hike is a scenic trail in the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park, offering a stunning journey through lush alpine meadows, dense forests, and dramatic waterfalls. Starting from the Valle de Pineta, the route follows a well-marked path leading to the Cascadas de la Larri, where the Gargantas del río Cinca create a series of impressive gorges and cascades. The hike provides breathtaking views of the Monte Perdido Massif, with opportunities to spot wildlife such as marmots and chamois along the way. While the ascent is steady, the trail is not overly technical, making it accessible to hikers with moderate experience. The combination of spectacular landscapes and the soothing sound of rushing water makes this a truly rewarding adventure in the Spanish Pyrenees.

Castillo Mayor

The Castillo Mayor hike is a rewarding ascent to a striking limestone peak in the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park, offering panoramic views over the Cañón de Añisclo and surrounding Pyrenean landscapes. The trail begins near Escuaín and follows a steady climb through oak and pine forests before reaching the open, rocky slopes of the mountain. As hikers gain elevation, the rugged karst terrain becomes more prominent, with dramatic cliffs and sweeping vistas in all directions. The final stretch involves a short but steep ascent to the summit, where breathtaking 360-degree views of Monte Perdido, Peña Montañesa, and the Añisclo Valley await. Though the hike requires moderate effort due to its elevation gain and uneven terrain, it remains an excellent choice for those seeking solitude and spectacular mountain scenery.

Pico Comodoto

The Pico Comodoto hike is a relatively accessible yet highly rewarding ascent in the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park, offering stunning views of the Valle de Pineta and the surrounding Pyrenean peaks. Starting from the Refugio de Pineta, the trail follows a well-marked path through alpine meadows and forested sections before reaching the open slopes leading to the summit. The final stretch involves a moderate climb over rocky terrain, but upon reaching the top at 2,354 meters, hikers are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of Monte Perdido, the Tres Sorores, and the French Pyrenees. Despite its high elevation, the route is not overly technical, making it an excellent choice for those looking to experience a true mountain summit without the challenges of more demanding ascents.

Cañón de Añisclo

The Añisclo canyon hike is one of the most spectacular routes in the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park, leading through a deep limestone gorge carved by the Río Bellós. Surrounded by towering cliffs, lush beech and pine forests, and cascading waterfalls, the trail immerses hikers in a dramatic and ever-changing landscape. The route typically starts from San Úrbez, following a well-marked path that winds through the canyon, passing by natural pools, caves, and viewpoints with stunning vistas of the rugged terrain. The combination of steep walls, crystal-clear waters, and dense vegetation creates a unique microclimate, making the hike an unforgettable experience. Though there are variations in difficulty, some sections require moderate effort due to elevation changes and rocky terrain, but the breathtaking scenery more than rewards the effort.

Valle de Otal

The Valle de Otal hike is a scenic and relatively gentle route in the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park, leading to a stunning glacial valley surrounded by towering peaks. Starting from the Bujaruelo Valley, the trail follows a well-marked path along the Río Ara, gradually ascending through lush meadows and forests before opening up to the breathtaking amphitheater of Otal Valley. The wide, grassy expanse is framed by rugged mountains, including the impressive Tendeñera Massif, creating a picture-perfect setting for a picnic or a peaceful rest. Along the way, hikers may spot marmots, chamois, and soaring vultures, adding to the wild beauty of the area. With its moderate elevation gain and relatively easy terrain, this hike is ideal for those looking to experience the grandeur of the Pyrenees without a strenuous climb.

Valle de Ordesa

Senda de los Cazadores is one of the most iconic and demanding hikes in the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park, offering breathtaking views over the Valle de Ordesa. The route begins at the Pradera de Ordesa, immediately challenging hikers with a steep and relentless ascent through a series of switchbacks leading to the Mirador de Calcilarruego, a spectacular viewpoint overlooking the entire valley. From there, the trail continues along the Faja de Pelay, a high balcony path that provides stunning panoramic vistas of Monte Perdido, the Circo de Soaso, and the cascading Cola de Caballo waterfall. The descent follows a more gradual route through lush forests along the GR-11, completing a demanding yet incredibly rewarding circular hike. Due to its significant elevation gain and exposure, this trail is best suited for experienced hikers with a good fitness level.
