The Sea of Pine Trees and Rivers of Stones
Enjoy stunning landscapes and unspoiled nature with this fantastic route that takes us to discover several of the most emblematic places in the Sierra de Albarracín. A high-altitude route, where we can find such special landscapes as the stone rivers, the Noguera lagoon, chasms and sinkholes, or the majestic pine forests of Bronchales and Orihuela.
The route of Fuente del Canto: Circular trail that takes us from the municipality of Bronchales to two of the most beautiful recreational areas in the municipality, passing by countless springs and enjoying the shade provided by the wild pine forest. Pay attention to the ground because in the appropriate seasons of autumn and spring, we can enjoy the sight of a great variety of mushrooms.
Sierra Alta
This route takes us through lush pine forests to the peak of Sierra Alta, which at 1854 m, is the second highest in the entire Sierra. From this vantage point, you can see almost the entire Sierra de Albarracín and on clear days, looking northeast, you can see the Moncayo.
Bronchales
The municipality of Bronchales is located at 1,569 meters above sea level, making it one of the highest villages in Spain. In its surroundings, we can find a large number of natural springs, whose waters are of recognized quality and extraordinary properties.
Its municipal area is divided between two major relief units. In the vicinity of the hermitage of the Saints of the Stone, in the area known as Las Celadas, you can easily access one of the most interesting points, with three large funnel-shaped dolines and a pothole doline, which is about 40 m deep. Inside it, formed by large fallen blocks from the wall, there is a connection to the underground network through a narrow gallery.
Accommodation
The comfortable Hotel Suiza is located in the Montes Universales in the heart of the Sierra de Albarracín. It offers rustic accommodation with free Wi-Fi and a terrace, 50 minutes’ drive from Teruel. Hotel Suiza’s rooms are set across 3 buildings. They feature central heating and include cable TV, a desk and private bathroom with toiletries. A laundry service is also available for an extra charge. Breakfast is served daily and Suiza’s restaurant serves traditional dishes and set menus made with local produce. There is also a spacious TV lounge with sofas and a games room.
